As eyeglass lens technology advances, the number of lens options grows along with it. We carry lenses for prescription eyeglasses that increase night vision, decrease computer glare and help block out harmful UV and UVB rays. We even offer photochromatic lenses and prescription sunglasses for indoor and outdoor use.
Lens Types
Single vision lenses correct one vision distance. We recommend these lenses if you’re nearsighted or farsighted, but not if you’re both.
This lens is a convenient option for people who need two vision corrections. We recommend these lenses if you’re both nearsighted and farsighted.
If you need to correct your near, intermediate and long-distance vision, we recommend the straight top trifocal.
This lens is a perfect fit for near, intermediate and long-distance corrections. Cosmetically, these lenses are seamless – there are no visible lines between the bifocal and trifocal lenses.
Progressive lenses are also less stressful on the eyes. The gradual change between all three lens types gives these lenses a much clearer transition, making it easier and more comfortable for your eyes to adjust.

This clear coating helps prevent scratches and scuffs to extend the life of your lenses. Even with a scratch-resistant treatment, you should still handle your eyeglasses with care!
An AR coating blocks out glare and improves your lens clarity. We recommend this treatment if you’re a frequent computer user or have issues with nighttime driving.
Having self-tinting lenses is like having glasses and sunglasses all in one. In regular lighting, your lenses will look clear, but if you step outside, they’ll change to a tinted lens. Choose from a variety of colors!
This treatment reduces reflective glare from the sun for improved visual clarity on bright, sunny days.
Polarized lenses eliminate glare from the sun and provide 100% UV protection. This treatment is best used for sunglasses or driving glasses.
Lens Materials
Boscov’s Optical offers three different types of lens materials:
Plastic lenses give you a light and comfortable feel, making them a popular choice among lens types. But, since they’re prone to scratches and scuffs, we recommend adding a scratch-resistant treatment to protect them from wear and tear.
These lenses are made from the same material used in airplane windows, making them some of the most durable lenses available. All polycarbonate lenses are scratch-resistant, shatter-resistant and pre-treated with UV protection. We highly recommend these lenses for kids, teenagers and active adults.
High-index plastic is a thin, yet durable material, making these lenses extremely comfortable and lightweight. These lenses are available with tints, anti-reflective coating and photochromatic treatments.
